Location, you ask? That's pretty general, don't you think? Sure, but location has a lot of different things. At most general level, many urban condos are located in the heart of cities. However if you simply break it down further - say within biking or walking distance - urban condos are near bars and restaurants, competitive sports, theaters along with other arts, the bus. Unlike some of my suburban friends, I haven't got to get behind the wheel to experience almost any cultural or sports event I want.
While my job entails a lot of driving in and out of the city, there are lots of people who elect to live without cars. They could do so because their condo if close to the place they work. Individuals who work at home might just have to walk along the hallway to access their desks; those who have condos near their office enjoy the next best thing. Oftentimes, they can walk to work and avoid difficulties associated with driving and parking. When they want to go back home and have lunch, they've got the option. At the same time, if they wish to go for happy hour or dinner in the evening, there probably are multiple options within a few minutes of their office or their condo.
Another aspect of condo locations I like is that people often arrive at where I am. Given my condo is so close to the activities people love, they drive to the city and handle parking. I simply meet them at the restaurant or stadium. So when it's time to head home, I've got a few-minute walk before me, while my pals have to get in their cars and drive for at least a few minutes.
Finally, shopping. As i am not really a big shopper myself, the choices within walking distance are nearly endless. You can find department stores and retailers carrying brands of clothing and residential ware that everyone would recognize, to small, independent shops to get stuff you can't get anywhere else. If I need a last-minute gift for someone, or have been taking into consideration the perfect present for months, I most likely simply have to go for a walk to go have it.
As I said earlier in the article, everyone has reasons for living in condos. Even though location tops the list for me, I could go on and on about why I enjoy it. That is a topic for the next day.
